About hire
When booking your concrete pumping hire, there are several factors to consider. Please see below some of these.
When enquiring for a concrete pumping hire please provide the following information…
- Contact name and telephone number
- Full site address including postcode
- Date and time for the pump, allow approximately 1 hour for the pump operator to set up the pump
- Length of pump line required
- Volume and type of concrete including any admixtures, additions, fibres etc.
- Brief description of the pour e.g. footing, external slab, bridge deck etc.
- Any other special requirements – additional pipeline, multiple set ups (various plots)…
To ensure a safe and efficient concrete pumping hire, please supply
- Clear and safe access to the pump set-up area for the pump and the truck mixers
- A level area of hard standing that is strong enough to support the loadings of the pump
- General purpose cement supplied to grout the pipeline – 2 x 25 kg bags
- Specify a pump mix concrete with the concrete plant with a minimum slump of S3 consistency. Your ready mixed concrete supplier will advise.
- A competent concreting gang to lay the concrete
- A suitable place for the operator to wash the pump out at the end of the pour. At least 1/3 cubic metre of concrete will be left in the pump after the pumping operation. This needs to be offloaded on site as we are unable to take this away.
The sequence of a typical concrete pump pour
- On arrival, the operator will liaise with the contractor to determine the desired location for the pipeline and prepare the grout.
- The concrete mixer can then position correctly to the pump.
- The pump operator will then grout the line and commence pumping. It is good site practice to pump excess grout to waste, not into the pour.
- The concrete will be placed into position using the ground-line, the concreting gang will need to move the pipeline around as the pour progresses.
- Cautionary note: Concrete is pumped at high pressure. All personnel should know the risks and dangers associated with end hose usage.
- When the truck mixer has discharged its load, the concrete mixer operator will clean the mixer chutes before the mixer leaves. Operators should not wash the chutes into the pump hopper as this could cause a blockage and affect the quality of the concrete.
- The next mixer will then arrive, back on to the pump and discharge its load.
- At the end of the pour, the pump operator will clean all the concrete from the pump and pipeline. This operation will take approximately one hour, more if the job involves a long pipeline. This needs to be in a designated washout area, agreed prior to pump set up where the wash out will not to flow into any drain or watercourse.
- The pump operator will then prepare the job sheet for the contractor to sign.
- The pump will then leave site.

We had a concrete roof terrace polished. This was a challenging job due to access issue. Martin persisted to overcome the challenges and achieved a very good result. I do not believe many businesses would have worked so hard to find a solution. Martin is very knowledgable and has a fantastic attitude. I would highly recommend this business.

Martin and his team recently installed a polished floor for us in our new build extension and we are delighted. Several things impressed us, in particular the teams' hard working professionalism and attention to detail. Team members, and Martin, worked on the floor out of hours, through the night and at the weekend to make sure the floor was perfect. The product is clearly of the highest quality and Martin has built up significant experience and expertise in delivering results with what can be a tricky - technical process. We can't recommend the company highly enough.

We are so grateful for the prompt and professional service provided by Concrete Polishing on the floor of our barn conversion. The hand laid concrete floor of our barn was in a shocking state but following the expert workmanship of the team from Concrete Polishing, and in the short time-frame before Christmas, it is now in excellent condition. We don't have any concerns and would recommend their service to anyone needing their advice and professional quality service.

Words cannot express how hard-working and dedicated this team are. We needed over 1000 square metres of rough concrete floor polishing in an industrial building and the results were magnificent. In fact the result of their work is the best feature of the whole site. A mirror-like sheen was achieved from a pretty ropey floor, defects in the floor were repaired and filled , including some pretty tricky and stubborn steel girders that had to be removed.Delivering what they promised at very good value would have been enough, but these guys went the extra mile, fitting the work in to suit my timescales and working long hours to get it finished. They also gave lots of advice and recommendations to achieve the best outcome for me, meaning they cared about the customer. Cannot recommend them enough.
